ANGANWADI SERVICES SCHEME (INTEGRATED CHILD DEVELOPMENT SERVICES (ICDS) SCHEME PUNJAB

Under the ICDS scheme six services like supplementary nutrition , immunization, Health check up, Referral Services, Nutrition and Health education and Pre-school Education are provided to children in age group of 6 Months to 6 years, pregnant women and lactating mothers. State Government makes provision from funds under Annual State Plan for this purpose. The expenditure under the Supplementary Nutrition Programme is borne by the Centre and State in 50:50 ratio.

Poshan Abhiyaan is a part of the same initiative as a focused intervention.

Vision:

The Department shall strive to help and create a society that nurtures children into healthy model citizens in a safe and protective environment, It shall endeavour to provide a safe and dignified life with equal opportunities for contribution to national development for women and ensure the well-being of senior citizens and other differently-abled persons requiring care, protection and social security.

Mission:

1. To ensure an efficient and effective service delivery mechanism for the welfare and empowerment of women, children, senior citizens, physically challenged persons and other vulnerable and marginalized sections of society.
2. To optimize the well-being of targeted groups by multi-pronged strategies for improving the quality of life and providing the opportunities for their growth and development. The Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) has significantly contributed to the realization of Government/State responsibility for creating a system that will efficiently and effectively protect children.
